Investing in Art – Problems and Their Ways Out

Category: Original Art – tkwriter 4:06 pm

A lot of people adore original art. But here appears a question: can original art considered to be a good investment, especially, if today’s economic situation is taken onto consideration? And the answer is obvious – historically, collecting original art has proven to be a good investment, both aesthetically and monetarily.

It will be very useful for you know, especially in the case if you are considering an original painting buying, that the value of the art will not appreciate ‘overnight’. There is a need to explain that that it may take years for your painting to increase a lot enough in value in order to make it a good investment for you. Of course, you might not want to sell it right away anyway if the painting is something you really enjoy and it brings you pleasure.

There is a rather interesting fact to mention that a lot of companies are beginning to discover that the placement of original fine art, in the workplace, actually improves the productivity of their employees because this provides them with an aesthetically pleasing working environment and you will probably agree that it is very important for a good mood and, as a result, for a good work all day long.

It should be also pointed out that over the years fine art has out performed the S&P 500 as a long term investment, considering the record sales at many fine art auction houses.

Now, let’s talk a bit about the other question that you might wonder about. What are the risks involved? So, as it is known, original art is a long term investment and it simply means that there are no guarantees that the market will be just right when you are ready to cash in on your investment and that is the reason why you will need to insure your art, not only against fire and water damage, but also against theft. As a matter of fact it is vital to be sure that you have photograph documents of your collection, as well as any appraisals, original sales receipts and other documentation that verifies the value of your art.

To conclude it all it should be said that like anything else in life, your best gauge of whether or not you think original art might be a good investment would be to go with your instinct. So in the case that it is something that gives you anxiety, you might want to rethink the venture and if you look at a piece of original art and find that it makes you happy and it’s something you would appreciate over the years, go for it. Keep in mind the simple truth that original art is a good investment as long as you realize the usual period of time that goes with its appreciation.

My Dabble Into Landscape Painting

Category: Arts and Crafts – tkwriter 7:54 am

My dabble into landscape painting showed me how fun it can be to be creative. For more information refer to interior paints

When I was a small child, I would rise at the first sign of dawn. I would not sleep past six, even when my parents begged and pleaded with me to just sleep a little longer. After they came to the conclusion that my internal clock was on its own time schedule, they decided that I could go ahead and get up as long as I quietly watched television. This sounded good, but in reality, there was really nothing on at six on a Sunday morning. One morning, though, I came across a show with a strange French guy who was painting landscapes with oil paints.

I began watching this show, simply because it was a little more interesting than watching church programming or infomercials. Eventually, though, I began to find that I was enjoying watching this man paint his beautiful landscape paintings. His smooth voice and strokes would quickly create trees and streams, simply by moving his brush across the canvas. He made it look so simple and easy, so I thought that I could create some landscape paintings myself. My paintings would have to be in crayon, however, since that was the only art tool that I had access to. Refer to paint for more information.

Thus began my habit. Each Sunday morning, I would wake at six and begin watching the landscape painting show. I would try to replicate what he was painting on the screen, while sitting on our couch. My crayons and drawing paper created some attractive pictures, but there were nothing compared to the landscape painters work. I came to the conclusion that I needed oil paints to make my paintings as beautiful as his.

I could not buy oil paints myself, since I was only seven years old, and my parents wouldn’t purchase them for me either. That is when I decided that I would just have to be creative. The only place that I could think of where I could locate some painting tools was in my mom’s makeup case. I used an old box as my pallet and then used the creamy makeup to make my paint by mixing them together. I used lipstick, blush, eyeshadow, and anything else that I could find to create my palette of colors. A blush brush was my paintbrush, an eyelash separator my tool for shading effects, and construction paper was my canvas. I was ready to create my masterpiece.

As I am sure that you guessed, my landscape painting using makeup only lasted that one Sunday. After my mom saw the mess I had made of her makeup, I was told that I couldn’t paint anymore. This put an end to my idea of using food the next time to create my palette. After a while, I quit watching the French painter. It had become too difficult to simply watch him when I was unable to create my own masterpiece. That was my dabble into landscape painting. Visit paint colors for more information.

Examining The Human Form With Jack Vettriano, Darren Baker & Todd White

Category: Canvas Art – tkwriter 9:29 pm

Artists have always been facinated by the human figure and produced figurative based art. The natural curves and features of the human body are a constant source of inspiration for a number of artists from Beryl Cook to Banksy. This is some thing that has spread from the art world to every magazine cover in the country, so there must be a primal intrigue for humans to examine our own and other people’s bodies. Three of the top contemporary artists in this style are Texan painter Todd White and British artists Darren Baker and Jack Vettriano, although there are major differences between their painting styles. One thing that is the same is their love for painting the human figure and in particular females.

Painter Todd White comes from Texas and has had an interesting career path. He started life working in Hollywood for Warner Brothers and was part of the artistic creative team behind Sponge Bob Square Pants. This could explain the cartoon like features of the people he paints in his contemporary pieces. Todd White often shows people in black clothing, socialising and drinking wine and this could be down to his location in LA. It would seem that Todd White is surrounded by Hollywood schmoozers and social climbers and from his artwork, I’d say he is not a fan.

Darren Baker is a young and very promising British artist, that has already commanded a great deal of respect from his peers. Darren Baker has received a number of awards from the art world and has private and public collections in the House of Lords and Downing Street. He has also been approached by many sports personalities to paint portraits, this is probably because he was appointed official artist of The Professional Footballer’s Association when he was 23 years old. Darren has a contemporary style that combines realism and classics and he is fond of painting figures. Darren Baker prints frequently female figures often in relaxed, seductive positions and he often uses a mix of black and red colours.

Jack Vettriano comes from Fife in Scotland and has won a number of awards for his figurative and nude pieces. Jack Vettriano artwork have a film noir feel to them, putting many of his subjects in a 50′s style. He often features ladies in his paintings often in relaxed poses or in the middle of doing something like leaving a room through a door. Jack Vettriano often paints characters that appear distracted, many of his pieces feature people staring off into the distance or focused on some thing else.

Picking The Best Video Camera

Category: Scrapbooking Videos – tkwriter 11:38 am

So it turns out that that you want to embark on documenting whatever in moving images for the first time, but how do you go about selecting the camera? Writing a really elaborate answer would require an entire book, so here I’ll try to give you a very brief version.

To begin with, let’s assume that what you are looking for is a small, portable, video camera – something suitable to have with you on the vacation as well as your kid’s next soccer game. Let’s also assume that, instead of messing with discs or tapes something that will record to a physical memory on the device itself, and allow for transferring this to external memory options if you so desire. In the name of maximum compatibility you don’t want something that you will need a specific program for using on your computer. Today we want to plug right into our computer, and use the material in the way we want.

These demands can be adequately met by any number of consumer friendly cameras, and your choice will be largely dependent on the quality you desire for your finished movie project. For projects shot in low resolution, for ordinary TV’s, Ipods or the Web, something like one of those new flip video cameras would serve nicely. But Then, if you desire Full HD picture quality for displaying on your brand new flat screen, you will probably want to go for a camera recording in the Avchd file format. This means you also need avchd compatible video editing software, which is now widely available.

High Definition Becomes the Standard

The term high definition can actually be said to described many different television systems originating from the late 1930s. Going back all the way to the British 240 line and 405 line black-and-white systems introduced in 1936, and including the American 525-line NTSC system established in 1941. These systems where defined “high definition” compared to even earlier models and of course have nothing to do with what we mean by high definition today.

Even So, the broad term high defintion can mean many different formats, riding on the context.

Essentially, high definition television is the height of human television invention, that has surfaced so far. It incorporates the 16:9 aspect ratio, that has long been used in movie theaters, that is standard on all new television screens. The resolution is multiplied up to five times from ordinary (SD) resolution, which of course is HD’s biggest selling point. Simply put – high definition is the best available picture on a television. Nevertheless, there are three separate adaptations of it: 720p, 1080i and 1080p. Only the last mention one is “full hd” and is what new blu-ray movies are offered in.

The format to work with avchd video editing, will most often be 1080i. Additional info on avchd video editing software is on hand here.

Nursery Wall Murals: A Greate Way To Decorate Baby’s Room

Category: Oil Painting – tkwriter 12:15 pm

When it comes time to decorate your babys first room, you probably already have a lot of ideas in your head. You may wish to paint the walls pink or blue as is traditionally done, or you may want to go another way completely. Some families choose yellow or light green because they are great for either gender, and others go a completely different way. If you really want something special, you might want to consider nursery wall murals as an alternative. These are usually more colorful than your average nursery, and they can be a lot of fun.

You can create nursery wall murals in almost any theme you want. You can use soothing colors at first, and that is probably the best idea. If the colors are too bright, you are going to stimulate your baby when they need to be resting. Go for soothing colors like pastels. Once your baby gets a little older, you can do nursery wall murals in almost any color you want. You may find that the bolder the colors, the more your child will love being in that room.

When it comes to choosing your nursery wall murals, the sky is the limit. Many parents like to go with their children’s favorite themes and shows. I have seen beautiful nursery wall murals done with the Wiggles, and I only wish I was talented enough to do something like that for my little Wiggles nut. I have also seen great ones that feature Winnie The Pooh and Thomas the Train. No matter what you choose, remember that as long as your baby likes it, you can’t go wrong, even if the mural is not perfect.

You can hire someone to do nursery wall murals for you, but it is also something you can do yourself. If you know anything about painting, this will be something you can do in a snap. If you don’t think you have an artist bone in your body, you can still do it. All you need to do is trace a scene out of a coloring book on clear paper and then use a projection machine to project the image on to the wall in the size you want. After that, you can trace the image onto the wall and fill in the color. It doesn’t have to be perfect; it just has to be done in love. The rest is just details.

Wasting Time Sorting When Scrapbooking?

Category: Scrapbook Organization – tkwriter 11:07 am

Do you find yourself putting off using your Fiber collection simply because of the time it takes to locate the right color you need for your project, get the knots out, iron out the creases, or find the collection that matches? Using a simple system for organizing your Fibers will allow your complete collection to be visible to you so that you can access the pieces you need when you are ready to scrapbook!

Try these 3 simple steps to organize your fibers
Step 1 – Find your Fiber
The first thing you should do is find all of your fibers and bring them together. (Be prepared: this may take awhile for some of us.) Fibers tend to get stashed in any open and available space. Because they come in so many different shapes and sizes, they tend to end up getting spread throughout the house instead of organized in one place. So obviously the first thing you should do is the gather your fibers in one place. Search the house, go through your scrapbook supplies, and get those fibers out.

Step 2 – Sort and Categorize
Next you will need to separate your fibers into different categories.
The first category should be themes. I’m sure you have some sports related ribbon that would go into a “Sports Theme”. You could also have a “Birthday Them” with all of your birthday themed ribbon, and so forth.
Secondly you would group them by collection. Many of us scrapbookers buy our paper and fibers by collections, such as BasicGrey FRUITCAKE, and it is helpful if we keep these items together. So the second category I recommend is Collections.
The third category will be Holidays and Seasons. In this group you will place fibers with Christmas designs, Easter eggs, fall leaves, and so on. These ribbons will be any that display a specific holiday or seasonal themed design.
Fourth category will be Color. Use this category for any fibers that don’t classify for the other 3 groups. Group these last fibers by color.

Step 3 – Display and Store Your Newly Organized Fiber Collection
Once you have your fibers sorted and grouped, it will be easy to find what you need when you’re ready, even if you don’t have the latest tools to assist with organization. If you’re looking for a specific way to store them without having any fancy organizers, I used to use some sheets that I cut out from cereal boxes… notch the top and you can wrap the fibers around that way. whatever specific organizing method you use, When you’re ready to add fiber to your layout finding it will be as easy as Flipping to the coordinating section in your organization system.

We all struggle with keeping our fibers and other scrapbook supplies organized. The scraprack can help. It was a bit of an investment, but I don’t even know how many hundreds of hours I’ve saved since I got it… I enjoy scrapbooking but it becomes tedious when you can’t find what you’re looking for when you need it.Takes all the fun out when I have to spend half an hour looking for that bit of red ribbon I know I saw last month… Definitely worth at least checking out the best scrapbook organizers I’ve ever found.
Happy Scrapbooking Everyone!

This Singapore Art Is Sg Art?

Category: Arts and Crafts – tkwriter 9:39 pm

Art Singapore is being held in Singapore annually in October ever since the mid 2000s and is seen as the event to be in if you are dabbling with anything is related to art.

But personally, when compared with art shows in other places, I think art Singapore is not really significant.I see art Singapore as really just an art show that is being held in Singapore. My first thought about art Singapore is that it should focus on Singapore art and if Singapore is too small, perhaps art in South East Asia.

However, folks that have been to this Singapore art event would know that that is not the case. You can even say that this is very much like a trade show that brings with it many vendors that are trying to sell their art works and other various pieces of art. I guess this is not unique to art Singapore but seriously, doing so loses the meaning of art.

I was just thinking about this and thought that maybe Art Hong Kong or any other art shows might have the same problem of becoming an investment instead of a true blue art event. But having being in Singapore and witnessing the event, I guess the problem seems so much more obvious to me.

I guess artist themselves needed to make a living and to get them to just display their art pieces would not be possible for them to sustain their lifestyle. But, shouldn’t art be something that should be appreciated.

Lets take the last art singapore show as an example, instead of art appreciation talk, you have art investment talk. And people that goes there, seems to look for art as a tool that would grow their wealth instead of their understanding of art.

The last point I have about art singapore is the lack of exposure for local artist. Can you imagine an event that is billed as art Singapore but not showcasing much of singapore artist work?

Calming Tranquility From Drawing Landscapes Through The Seasons

Category: Original Art – tkwriter 9:24 am

In this age where valuable free time is so difficult, where do we find relaxation, peace or solitude from the busy life of today with all it’s trials and tribulations. People use this time in different ways but I am convinced that many opt for some sort of peace and tranquility.

As a contemporary artist that loves nature, I often head to the country to admire the beautiful landscapes, mountains, trees, lakes, flowers, birds etc. The effect they have on me is calming. The rare beauty of this stirs my emotions. Often I capture these emotions on camera, so that the memory remains with me.

The colours in the country are inspiring – either in winter or summer. I appreciate the starkness of winter when the trees are stripped empty, the first snows and of course the pattern that frost makes, whether on the window panes, cars, etc…. Maybe the colours are at their Sunday best in the autumn.

Fascinating too are the tumbling leaves and falling twigs as they appear to dance like an Autumn Concerto. The reds, browns, golden yellow and the leaves partly disintegrated are really something together with the conkers dropping at your feet.

I have spent an enjoyable time in County Kerry where the landscapes are naturally rugged which is impressive to the eye of a contemporary painter. If you head on towards Dingle the natural flow of the waterfalls at Muckross Pass takes your breath away. The early morning mists as well are something to behold.

Different things grab peoples emotions, personally I am quite happy to stroll along a deserted beach at any season of the year. Observe the birds, watch the sun refecting on the water, or the flow of the tide as it comes in and moves out. Even see children playing, running in and out of the water, making sandcastles, or dogs roaming free off the leash. One thing is for sure, possibly one of the finest things to capture is the early morning sunrise or the evening sunset in all its glory. This is beauty at it’s finest.

Spring too, is an beautiful season when you see the first delicate buds appearing on trees, hedges and bushes. Snowdrops and tender Celandiles working their way up through the ground.
Easter on towards May brings the gorgeous array of nodding Bluebells which are abound in plenty of our local woods and forests mingling amongst the Buttercups and Ferns.

Then we are into the colourful surprise of summer. At this time the trees are ready to be appreciated. Flowers are in full bloom creating eye catching displays which warm our spirits. Hues and patches of fragile tones which warm the soul, to very bright and passionate colours which knock our socks off.

Skylines too are inspiring. The cloud formations are always interesting with their delicate and also very strong tints. Red skies are relaxing, relating to you that the next day is going to be golden.

Is it any surprise then people enjoy painting Landscapes? You have all the inspiration you could possibly need. As you can gather you are surrounded by subjects. Whether you catch them on camera first, or do them from memory. Pick up you paint and seize the day!

Which Type Of Surfaces Do You Need For Landscape Painting?

Category: Arts and Crafts – tkwriter 9:14 pm

As far as easels go whatever you might decide upon ensure that it is certainly sturdy. The folding ones are a superb choice to invest your money in. An easel is not really an essential item, but they can prove very handy if you want to move around. These you can take anywhere to suit your needs.

This gives you the freedom to head out to the countryside, town squares, gardens, parks, homes, etc., wherever you like. It provides you total freedom. In certain situations I have utilized an old school blackboard stand as a prop for my work. Even this is better than trying to work on a flat surface. I myself was lucky enough to pick up a second-hand easel, however this is not the best sort that can be bought in art suppliers now. As a contemporary artist I prefer an easel that does not wobble!

Probably the best that can be acquired on the market these days are the ones called “the radial”. These I believe will hold a painting up to 52 inches or the equivalent in centimetres high. Most likely these are the best you can get for use in your home. One only needs to see one to note that they are equally strong and firm.

Even once you acquired an easel you will still ought to have something at hand to put your working tools on. At one time I used to use an old tea trolley which was great, not only could you move it around to suit your needs, but I found that I could manage to get all my equipment on it. This saved time getting up and down for things. These are easy to pick up at car boot sales, local auctions, tip or antique shops.

A normal palette with a thumb hole is an absolute must for your kit. Some people tend to use brown wood ones. To my mind I would always use the white trays, as with these they convey your colours better. In fact, I find myself using glass and enamel plates or china saucers. A friend of mine, who is also a contemporary painter, just uses plain glass with white paper below it.

Surfaces to paint on will be varied. Different types seem more suitable according to your various times and needs. Money does not really come in to it. Many people prepare and stretch their own canvasses. Normally you find it is better to have several canvasses at hand. Although really you can use hardboard, canvas, plywood or many other backings for your work. The point to be clarified is, you need a different assortment of sizes and shapes.

If you normally only work on one painting at a time it does not matter, from my own experience I often have about three on the go at any one time. It is very frustrating if you run out of surfaces to paint on when you are currently feeling inspired.

This ought to give you an idea of what your needs are. Once you have these you have to add brushes, palette knives, turps and turps substitute, drying and linseed oils plus maybe some other mediums. A household brush normally comes in handy together with the paints themselves and containers. Hope you will enjoy your creations.

The shocking art of the video games – watch diablo 3 characters in action.
