Have you ever played on-line games? Was it a temporary hobby? Are you a real fan? Considering the fact that you are reading this article, you are probably acquainted with the world’s greatest MMORPG game (massive multiplayer on-line role-playing game), called the World of Warcraft. The history of this amazing game dates back to 1994, when the computer gaming company Blizzard Entertainment released their first experimental RPG game, named Warcraft. It was unbelievable, but the game gained tremendous popularity in several weeks, heading the computer game charts all over the world. It seemed that players liked the brand new idea of having their own personage, which could be developed and which lived its own life in the virtual world, the life you could easily control. All you had to do is to get the CD with the game, install it to your computer and enjoy the hours of interesting game, providing you with new emotions and perspectives for development.

As the popularity of the game became obvious, Blizzard decided to go further and the second volume of the game emerged in the market. It was the most expected premiere in the world of computer games as well as the third volume of Warcraft. Warcraft fans were happy, especially if consider the fact that the game was available on-line. Unfortunately, the Warcraft servers of that time could support up to ten players at a time and it was obvious that new changes were needed, because more and more people from all over the world wanted to compete and to play together. Ten years passed until the fourth part of Warcraft was released. This time, Blizzard Entertainment made its fans an awesome surprise, because the World of Warcraft, which was the final name of the game, became the first MMORPG, released by this company. The greatest novelty, presented by Blizzard, was the facility for on-line playing. Moreover, up to several thousands (!) can play at the same time on one and the same WoW gaming server. There are several such servers around the globe, not to mention illegal servers, created almost in every town and city for the most dedicated players. Wherever you live and however small is your town, you can get an access to the game for just 17 dollars, which is not a high price for such tremendous opportunity. Despite the game being paid, it does not prevent people from playing and if a player abandons the game, the most possible reason is the hardships and difficulties in the course of playing, but not the money. Blizzard managed to combine two great things – the perfect game, having all qualities of the good MMORPG game and the fantastic profit it brings its creators! Any other company can hardly repeat the same revolution in the gaming world and, who knows, what innovations from Blizzard are waiting for us in the future!
