Maximum Value|How To Correctly Store You Precious Coins

Category: Arts and Crafts – tkwriter 8:37 pm

There is a type of Hippocratic Oath used implicitly among coin collectors:

First, most especially, do no damage.

Strictures on making clean coins are familiar in

collecting circles, although there’s continued debate

about how and when. Despite that, there’s general agreement on the

way to store coins.
Click over here for extra info on

coin holder.

To avoid the harming issues with oxidation, finger oil,

scrapes, etc, coins should at any rate be stored in Mylar plastic containers, one coin per compartment. They enter a mixture of

styles.

Inexpensive Mylar-lined cardboard holders can be purchased. The

holders have a small, round cut-out for placing the coin so it can be held up and seen from either side. They enter a

form sometimes called two-by-two’s. They are frequently

two inches by two inches.
You can acquire more info on coin holder here.

Some holders are sheets that will hold various coins, but

each in its own separate area. Others are tiny,

personal sleeves that will hold one coin

each. Several styles have holes punched in the edge so that coins can be stored in a binder, but

these aren’t ideal. Coins should be

displayed.
You should find heaps of supplemental info

relating to coin folder here.

Cabinets, from small, glass and wood cigar-box style holders to large,

floor-standing Chippendale types, can be bought to

hold and show off your collection. The costlier

types are virtually air-tight and some need archival-style dehumidifiers.

Aged mahogany or rosewood both make superior wooden cabinets.

You should avoid any wooden cabinet, such as oak, that

emits organic compounds into the interior. Many types of tree, long

after being chopped down and whether

not coated with varnish, will produce volatile, organic

compounds. Some of those compounds are

detrimental to coins.

Many collectors, for that cause, will recommend a metal

cabinet instead. Several styles exist, some with

a coating that helps to prevent

scratching and oxidation. Plastic or polystyrene containers are likewise available, though they rarely display as

nicely.

Whichever style of cabinet you acquire, apart from those with

in-built dehumidifiers, it’s helpful to have a

supply of silica gel packages or

other desiccant. They draw moisture that

contributes greatly to oxidization.

Some collectors will coat the coins with vegetable oil or wax before storing, but these

practices are contentious. Oil can

attract contaminants and wax may give a false sense of protection, since it can easily

wear off or dull the view.

Beyond what to do or use, there are several

medically that can avoid.

While avoiding exposure to air is good, it’s not

true that any type of packaging is superior

to none. PVC (polyvinyl chloride) sleeves are generally not recommended. They can cause the

coin’s surface to become coated so with a greenish

sludge that’s detrimental and

hard to remove cleanly.

Though exhibiting coins is desirable,

storing them away has been termed essential. Paper envelopes can be used to do this, but avert standard

office supplies. Get envelopes specifically made for coin

storage. The sulfuric acid in common paper can harm

coins, especially ones containing copper.

Never store collectible coins in any type of bulk container, like penny rolls, plastic tubes, etc. That results in scratching and

denting and doesn’t keep out damaging air.

Specially-made sealed containers that hold a collectible are

best, though they add to the

up-front cost of the coin. In the

long-term, however, they will keep your coin in good

condition for long run storage and display.

Category: Arts and Crafts – tkwriter 5:55 am

In today’s world, conserving our resources is more important than ever. If you’re a crafter, then you can save money and be environmentally friendly by using ordinary household items as crafts for your projects.

It may take a little imagination but you can turn old clothes, empty containers and even old computer supplies into fun and functional items that can be used anywhere in the house.

crafts
Tin cans can be used for a number of new projects after their contents have been emptied. Turning tuna or cat food cans into candy containers is a practical craft project that is so simple that anyone can do it. After you’ve washed the can thoroughly, paint the outside white.

Punch two holes near the top edge on opposite sides and use light weight craft wire or a pipe cleaner to make a handle. Now the can looks like a little basket. To cover the wire, you can use felt or pretty ribbon.

To decorate the outside of the can, you can use stamps, stickers, glitter or more craft paint. Line the inside with plastic wrap, paper doilies, or colored cellophane. The candy container will look really pretty and artiste once you put the candy inside.

Napkin rings are an attractive addition to any table even when you’re having a casual family dinner. Save your silver napkin rings for formal occasions and make paper towel tube rings for every day. This is so easy, and is one of safest crafts for young kids to do. You’ll need an assortment of dried beans.

If you want a flashier look, you can use plastic gem stones. You’ll also need an empty paper towel tube, glue and scissors. Cut empty paper towel tubes into 1-1/4″ rings. Use the glue to attach the beans or gems to the entire surface area.

If you want to make a simpler looking napkin ring, cover the paper towel roll with shelving paper in a pretty pattern before cutting the roll into pieces.

Showcase Your Art With Framing Equipment

Category: Arts and Crafts – tkwriter 11:01 am

Wouldn’t it be great to be able to frame your own photographs, pictures and any other artwork you desired? This is actually a fun process and is relatively easy to do with the proper framing tools and a good set of instructions.

Most of the instructions will start off with how to cut a mat board, as many people feel that is really the first step in art picture framing.

framing supplies
If you do decide to use a mat board, then you will need a good quality mat cutter and ruler. Start by marking the borders that need to be cut on the back side of the board and make sure that it will completely cover all edges of the picture by subtracting about 1/8 of an inch from the size of the image (length and width). Then attach your mat by applying only two pieces of acid free tape to the top edge.

In order to figure out the amount of frame moulding you will need, simply measure the artwork and the mat that you want to use and then add an additional 3 mm (0.118110″). This ensures that the artwork will fit into the finished frame easily.

You will need a mitre cutter among your framing tools in order to cut the 45 degree angle that is the most important part of making the frame.

Add the length and width together, then multiply by two to give you the overall length of the frame that you will need. You will also have to allow for those mitre cuts, so multiply the width of the moulding by ten and add this to the total needed for the wood picture frames.

Cutting one side is easy, but cutting the other sides so that they are the same all the way around is harder. Be sure that your measurements are accurate.

wood picture frames
Another item you are going to need among your other framing supplies are clamps, as tightly clamping the frame is essential in order to have a solid frame. You want to use clamps that will allow you to see the four corners all at the same time, as it makes aligning the frame easier.

A pushmaster is another piece of framing equipment that is good to have, as it allows you to tap the V nails into the wood much more easily. You can push the nails in by hand but is generally easier if you use some type of mallet to tap in the nails. It will make the job easier.

Starting A Business From Scrap Booking

Category: Arts and Crafts – tkwriter 12:34 pm

You can enjoy your scrapbooking albums hobby and still be able to make some money. For those people who are interested in combining their hobby with a business plan, this craft can offer options where they can enjoy their craft while at the same time, grow, by pursuing business opportunities that are available in this kind of craft. In this way, you will get personal satisfaction in making your scrapbooking and make money through the shop.

There are two ways you can engage in your own scrapbook business: selling assorted scrapbooks and selling scrapbook supplies.

A practical and easy way to start your scrapbook supplies business is by becoming a consultant of a company engaged in direct sales of scrapbook supplies. The startup capital for this type of business is minimal and there are even companies that don’t require you to purchase an initial inventory before you can start as sales consultant. Sales consultants normally earn 30% to 40% upfront incentive from the sales proceeds of scrapbook supplies.

For those who want more flexibility and control of their sales operation, ScrapBiz can be a practical option. It allows entrepreneurs to purchase their scrapbook supplies at wholesale prices and conduct their sales operations in the manner that they prefer. Individuals who are adopting this unique sales program by ScrapBiz earn an average of 40% to 50% profit from what they then sell.

Marketing opportunities abound as there are a lot of people who love to have their own scrapbooks to store their precious mementos but are quite intimidated in making one. These people are the main focus of your scrapbook business. You may even consider providing your customers with pre-designed scrapbooks that will match their needs and expectations.

Making custom designed scrapbooks for your clients can be both satisfying and profitable. However, one must be able to launch an aggressive marketing campaign in order to obtain a wide array of customers. You may consider placing ads in local magazines and newspapers. A company website can also help you establish your network with potential clients to ensure your success. A caveat for those new in the business; make sure that you are able to establish strong contact and link with your clients so that you can protect your business interest from those individuals who may not pay up once the scrapbook is delivered to them.

As soon as you have finalized your initial plans on the type of scrapbook business that you are going to establish, you will have to come up with your business and marketing ventures. In many instances, home parties are used by direct sales consultants in connecting with prospective clients in selling their merchandise. You can also actively participate in community forums and do product presentations to groups of people in the hope of garnering more customers. If you are offering pre-made scrapbooks, you may join local trade fairs and craft shows in your community or launch your own e Commerce.

As soon as you are able to finalize your marketing and business plans, the next thing that you have to do is to comply with the legal and documentary requirements in starting a business. And once these are done, you are all set to take the plunge and start enjoying and managing your business.

Increase Your Health With DIY Art Projects

Category: Arts and Crafts – tkwriter 3:14 pm

A growing number of people are beginning to utilize art for the benefits it provides to our health. Picking up the paintbrush and heading towards the canvas, or whatever form of fun art projects you chose, is often more than just an exercise in aesthetics, but instead also imparts health benefits for a growing number of people.

Mind over matter

If you have ever executed a particularly excellent color passage in your artworks, or if you have ever rendered a figure in a satisfying way, and if in general you have been enjoying the arts, one of the impressions you get from artistic endeavors is not only skills, but a sense of fulfillment that reaches a psychological level.

Studies today are suggesting, however, that the same psychological fulfillment that is found in art activities has actual physiological effects as well. Parts of the brain secrete hormone during art activities which foster better health. These hormones are considered happy hormones by many scientists, and include endorphins which are released during stimulating events.

Benefits to Hormones

The physiological effects of happy hormones include increased blood circulation, better sense perception, as well as an increase in the performance of the immune system. While further research and development studies are needed to fully establish the connection between adult art and health, one thing that scientists and doctors are concluding is that health is more than just a combination of vitamins and supplements, a good diet, and physical workouts and exercise.

Healthy lifestyles

Health and fun art projects also naturally go together because a healthy lifestyle is often necessary for many delicate artistic maneuvers. Many artists also find that a healthy lifestyle which includes exercise, plenty of sleep, and a good diet are some of the most artistically stimulating conditions for creating works of arts, contrary to popular and often exaggerated notions of the starved and homeless artist.

DIY Art Options

Amazingly, doctors are beginning to realize these benefits and include forms of artistic recreation within treatment or prescription programs. One of the primary reasons why art is so useful in the healing process is that, aside from the hormonal discharges that result from satisfying art activities, it is also one of the least physically straining activities that an invalid can enjoy.

For instance, painting is just one of the many artistic endeavors that a person can indulge in, and already there are many sub-categories and options within the field of diy art projects that you can try. You can try out oil painting, water color painting, gouache painting, and even mixed media.

Art Projects: Learning Is Fun

Category: Arts and Crafts – tkwriter 3:09 pm

There are various reasons why you would want to teach your little ones the basics of art and art appreciation early on in the child’s life. Whatever your reasons may be, inculcating the value of art in young children is of utmost importance since art is one of the most satisfying and stress-relieving activities that you can undertake. And for many home diy art projects, the expenses need not matter either. If you want to begin a little fun between you and your child, here are some of the basics of home art projects.

Basics first

Begin with the basics by teaching your child the basics of art. Because of the wide range of definitions that have been applied to the concept of art, it is necessarily one of the more difficult concepts to teach a young child. After all, few things are as confusing as art which can refer to anything form a Van Gogh to an Andy Warhol. Once you have provided an easy to grasp working definition of art, however, you can begin with basic skills training. No matter in what stage of the learning and art process you are in, however, remember to keep the definitions of art a work in progress. As you yourself learn new meanings and theories as to what art is, share this with your child so that your children end up with a more comprehensive knowledge of the entire concept that is called art. Once you have determined your child’s natural interests you can create a list of possible diy art projects that will interest them.

Skills training

Depending on the capabilities of your children, you can begin with basics such as the color wheel and dexterity skills, which are particularly useful for very young children such as toddlers. As they grow older, however, you can move to more complex topics such as painting and the basics of sculpting that you can teach with play dough. Use cheap materials for these training lessons, such as home made play dough whose recipes are found in the internet. Poster paints are also one of the most accessible paint media because of its relatively cheap price. These paints are also water-based, which means that you can easily remove these stains on children’s skin and clothes. A technique to make the learning process easier is to do these skills training exercises within the context of home art projects. Instead of just letting your children make random shapes to get a feel of clay or make random painted images, start each skills training activity with basic conceptualization.

Teaching your children home art basics can be equally challenging for parents. Instead of sending your young ones to art camp, however, there are still benefits involved in teaching your child art basics yourself. This is also a great venue for you to develop and explore art skills yourself via home diy art projects.

Remember, with children teaching is best done with examples. If you want an artistic child, begin by practicing it yourself.

DIY Art Project: Connect With Your Kids

Category: Arts and Crafts – tkwriter 6:45 pm

If you are one of the parents who are looking for ways to bridge the growing gap between you and your children, a diy art project may be the solution you are looking for.

DIY art project options

There are various do-it-yourself home art projects that can be done inside the home. Contrary to popular belief, these art projects are also ideal for people looking for affordable ways to reconnect with the family on a budget. With the right project ideas, there is no need for anyone to begin spending large amounts of money on professional quality paints and artists brushes that can leave gaping holes in any average household’s budget.

Whether for the fourth of July or simply as a year-round sign of you and your country’s love for the motherland, patriotic cards are one of the beginner’s home art projects that you can look into. Using classic American themes ranging from the flag to the good old American eagle, the patriotic card is both easy to use and a hands-on activity that is perfect for your young children. To do this, the only that you need are some art papers, glue, a pair of scissors, and some marking pen for drawing in the details of your project. Let your children explore their creative side through the use of various art elements to decorate the card, aside from the main motif of the flag. For very young children, help them out in using the scissors for safety.

DIY art project: jigsaw puzzles

This is a multiple purpose activity that is wonderful not only for developing your children’s artistic capabilities, but which also provides a reusable game for you and your family in the end. The materials used for this project are poster paints, a paint brush, cardboard, and scissors. Begin by making a sketch of your children’s favorite design. It could be classic themes such as the cowboy image for your boys, or a fairytale princess fantasy drawing for your girls. Once the cardboard has dried, use a pencil to draw in the typical jigsaw puzzle lines in the cardboard. Use a cutter for cutting up the cardboard, and voila, you have your own home-made art jigsaw puzzle for entertainment and to foster creativity in your family.

Look for children’s art activity books for more ideas or the online home art projects sites. Just remember, keeping close family ties does not have to be difficult – with a home diy art project.
